Title How the Environment Affects Human Health
Description We will discuss how the environment affects human health, paying particular attention to the interaction between environmental and dietary chemicals and the human endocrine system. A variety of so-called endocrine disrupting chemicals have been identified in recent years. Debate is currently raging worldwide about whether or not these chemicals are harmful to humans and if so, what action should be taken. We will consider both sides of the debate and attempt to separate science from opinion. Recommended reading prior to taking the seminar is “Our Stolen Future” by Theo Colborn, Diane Dumanoski and Pete Myers and/or “Hormonal Chaos” – Sheldon Krimsky.
