The course includes such topics as acupuncture, qigong, Tai Chi/kung fu, and manipulative therapies. Emphasis is on Western biomedical research aimed at explaining how these modalities are effective for improvement of health and treatment of diseases. Starting from lectures and demonstrations presented in the course, students will search the literature for additional materials for their own presentations on one or more of these topics. Besides learning about the Chinese Healing Arts, students will be introduced to the latest biomedical technologies of functional genomics, nanotechnology, biological imaging, biophotonics, etc.
