Title California Habitats
Description Would you rather have the outdoors as your classroom? This class will meet three Thursday afternoons beginning at 1pm for 3-4 hours on March 30, April 6, and April 20, 2010. The first session will be at the beach, exploring the tidepools of Little Corona del Mar. One session will be at the Duck Ponds, and another session will be in the classroom or field, with location determined by the spring rains. With luck, we will be able to hear or see the rare California gnatcatcher and see some spring wildflowers in bloom. We will learn about the natural history of the organisms of these habitats as well as examine how ecologists form and test hypotheses. This class should be of particular interest to students interested in ecology and evolution. You MUST provide your own transportation; all sites are within a 15 minute drive of UCI.
